About Iqraa Tv
Founded in 1998 by the Arab Media Corporation (AMC), Iqraa is the first ever Islamic satellite channel. Located within an Arab and Islamic framework, Iqraa addresses through its diversified programming all members of the Muslim family.
Several studies carried out by various agencies show that Iqraa is the leading Islamic channel in the Arab world as well as in Europe and North America. Iqraa’s phenomenal success, with the grace of God, is due to several factors.
First, Iqraa broadcasts through six satellites: Arabsat 2B/4B – Nilesat 101 Hotbird 8 – Asiasat 2 – Anik F3. This allows the channel to reach 80% of the world’s television viewers, making Iqraa the leader of the Islamic satellite sector.
In addition, since its inception, Iqraa has presented many important figures of Islamic media, opening this field for subsequent channels. Through its programming, Iqraa strives to provide viewers with a television experience that is relevant to their lives and their spiritual, cultural, social, economic and humanitarian goals within an Islamic framework that is also modern.
One of the most important objectives of the founder of Iqraa - His Excellency Sheikh Saleh Kamel - is that Iqraa reaches Muslims all over the world, particularly in the West where viewers may not have had opportunities to know first-hand the tolerance of the Islamic faith and its principles. To that end, the channel subtitles its programming into the English language to reach non-Arabic speaking Muslims.
Iqraa is committed to reaching out to its global audience at all times. Its programming during the holy month of Ramadan and its professional and comprehensive coverage of the Hajj season has earned it a loyal viewership who trust the channel to present programs that are new, useful and creative.
Working hard to maintain this trust, Iqraa has received many honors and awards over the years. Recently the channel won first place in the Festival of Arab Radio and Television in Tunisia for its program “Jerusalem: The Flower of All Cities.” In addition, the channel does not limit itself to covering Islamic activities just in the Arab world, but also focuses on major events worldwide. With a mission to reach all Muslims as well as non-Muslims, whatever their language, nationality or creed, Iqraa plans to launch new channels in several languages in the hopes of achieving its mandate to present a moderate and tolerant Islamic discourse
